:notnice: Picked up my Mustang from Woody Anderson Ford in Huntsville this morning. It had been in the body shop because mother nature threw a Deer at me. Anyway, I'm disappointed in the repair, and the way my car was returned to me. The body panel replacement looks good (right front fender), it's aligned perfectly. The interior of the car had grease on the arm rest, the speaker has a nice black scuff on it, the sill plate is scuffed black as well, the windows have greasey hand prints on them. All of this I can put up with, what I can't take is the paint. I counted 10 bits of dirt in the hood alone, the kind of dirt you catch you finger nail on. The fender has swirl marks all over it, and it also contains it's share of dirt in the paint as does the door. The fender and door both have a long run of paint running the length of the edge. All in all, I'd say this repair gets a 0 on a 1 to 10 scale. I'm going to notify them in the morning, this isn't going to get it. I drove the car 75 miles one way for them to perform the repair as I was told Woody Anderson Ford would take special interest in my Mustangs repair, I guess I was misinformed.

Sorry to hear that. Your right in taking it back immediately.
Do not settle for anything but perfection.

Get them to throw in a years worth of oil changes, rotations and the gas money you had to spend.

Let us know what happens.

You got pics?

My pet peeve with bodyshops. No pride in workmenship. Always note the total condition of your vehicle upon arrival for repairs. Now you've learned the need to check and then recheck a second time the body shops work before you sign off on repairs. Also ask the origin of the parts used. Some are of very poor quality, do not except them. Could have saved you the extra trip. If they damaged any interior parts, make them replace them too. If they refuse anything, contact your Insurance Company.

This painter at this dealership is a HACK!!

I manage a bodyshop and I send back maybe 1 or 2 cars a year to my painter to repaint,he has too much pride in his work and its my job to protect the reputation of my dealership.
If i were you dont let this hack paint your car again, either get them to remove the dirt and polish to perfection or have another shop repaint and have woody pay the bill and a rental while your car is in another shop.

Mistakes happen but where is the quality control??

That dealer has sucked for at least 25 years. I lived there in early 80s and they screwed around with an order and never filled it. I went elsewhere. :nono:

I had Woody Anderson repaint my rear bumper and it looks perfect. A friend had body & paint work done on his Mustang and it looks great as well. Until these posts, I have only heard good things about their body shop.

I live 75 miles from Huntsville, I have Ford dealers closer to me than Woody. I specifically took the car to them because I was told they would take care of my Stang, something about them being Mustang fanatics. I called them today, talked to Dan, hes' the new guy on the block, he said to bring it in, they would make it right. So now they will have a second chance to either fix it right or screw it up somemore. I'll be taking it in tomorrow morning.

Hopefully the dealer will live up to its name...

that is completely unacceptable that the repair was so poor and unprofessional

be sure to tell the manager that you expect a professional job and that you will not accept shoddy work.

Many people believe that a dealer bodyshop is more reputable than a local one. It is just like any other... some good, some bad. Just because it is a dealer shop doesn't mean it will use genuine Ford parts. Some may still try to tack on the garbage offshore panels.

Often bodyshops are FORCED to use offshore panels by the insurance companies!

Well the situation was this; I am at the dealership at 7:30 AM I am 75 miles from work. I have to be in to work at 8 AM. I still have to drive back to the house pickup the work truck and hit it, all the while loseing pay. So the short answer is NO TIME. When I got off work that afternoon I inspected it. Didn't take much of an inspection, in the sun you could see the defects readily. No the bottom line here was they finished the car on the Friday before labor day, they rushed it, and screwed it up. Anyway took it back up to them Friday, talked to Dan, who tried to tell me dirt was normal, and that this isn't a "show car", of course I know some dirt is going to be in the paint. But when your hood is covered with specs you can catch your fingernail on, somethings wrong. I have painted cars in my garage and had less dirt in the paint. As I was talking to Dan, Sam the manager walked up, he looked at the car, grapped my keys from me and said, "don't worry about this we'll take of it" So while Dan didn't give me a warm fuzzy, Sam did. So we'll see just how professional the bodymen at Woody Anderson are. When I pick it up this time, I'm bringing my inspection light, my magnifieing glass, my fine tooth comb and a lunch.

Too bad you couldn't avoid the deer in the first place(swerved or hit the brakes)look ahead and anticipate things. It would have saved you and the deer from all this trouble.

I'm afraid that's easier said than done, my friend. In our part of the country, you can't see through the forest trees and thus anticipate the deer hiding behind them, waiting to jump out in front of your car.

At 35mph, it's a bit hard to slow down and not have the deer make some sort of impression on your car.

First story -
I had a similar problem with my 95 gt when I bought it. It had a few clear coat bubbles in the bumper-BUMPER! It was a demo that had 5500 miles on it. After I noticed them, I took it back and they told me they were rock chips. I'm sorry but rock chips and BUBBLES are not the same thing. Anyway after b!tching up a storm about it, they agreed to re-paint the bumper.

Upon finishing, there was overspray on the windshield, hood and both doors. Bottom line, the car ended up getting painted 4 more times after that due to terrible body shop work.

Second story -
I had a 02 Sport Trac which I was selling. The week before I sold it 2 things happened, a buyer called that wanted to buy it with cash and I was involved in a small accident in the parking lot at work, not my fault. New bumper and repaint was all that was needed. When I arrived at the dealer to pick it up, guess what I saw? A big dirt spot right in the center of the bumper. OMG not again!

Luckily, the buyer had met me at the dealership where it was getting repaired(I told her what had happened). There was no way I was goijng to lose a $17000 sale to a stupid piece of dirt and shotty body shop work.

I pointed it out the manager and pretty much told me that it happens but was disappointed in it. He told me that he would take care of it if she wanted to bring it back within 90 days.

Needless to say I didn't point it out to the buyer, she test drove it and I had the money the next day in my account.

Moral? Don't take SH!T from dealerships!!!!!!!!

They will do the crappiest work possible to get the job done. Demand perfection and don't let up until you get it!
