dent
I was washing my car yeasterday and I found a small dent at the bottom of the back bumper. I can't figure out how I could have gotten this dent. There are no scratches but it looks like I backed into something the size of trailer hitch ball. The plastic on the bottom of the bumper seems soft enough that maybe if I heated the spot with a hair dryer I could just pop the dent out. What do you think? Can I just pop it out or do I have to take it to a body shop?
Don't know where you live, but here, Dentbusters is a good place for popping out small round shaped dings and dents. If the paint is not damaged, they have the tools to do the job right and you don't even know there was a dent there when they're done. On others cars of mine I've had them pop out some dings in the metal. I don't know how they do a plastic/rubber bumper cover though. Good luck, I'd try them rather than do it myself. Usually because no painting is envolved it is cheap also. Good luck.
Hmmm, I'm no body expert but if the bumper cover looks dented, my guess is the plastic (urethane, or whatever it is called) would be streched and not easily popped out like you would with metal. I have a feeling you would need to get it filled and repainted.
