Dealer Paint Protection and Clay bar

I've always had paint protection put on my cars but also have never used clay bar. Would the two even work together or would the clay remove the paint protection? Not familiar with how long the protection lasts and if clay should even be used on it. Comments and suggestions welcome!

Save your money. Bottom line, you can have a good detailer do a better job for the same cost as what the dealer will charge you.

Hey bud, it all depends on what type of "paint protection" they are using. If its Simoniz Glasscoat, the claybar won't make it come off. That stuff bonds to the paint and its put on after the car is washed and cleaned with a solution. If its some off the shelf brand, I'm not sure.

Thanks. I believe it will be Vesco if that helps.

I wouldn't worry then. I don't think clay will remove it, but try to get details on the product if you can.

Its called "Environmental Paint Barrier w/Teflon". I emailed Vesco asking since their website doesn't say much. It does offer 5 year warranty against numerous kinds of paint damage. I am glad I got it on my Mazda Speed 3 with all the black soot that comes out back.

Ah yes, the Gen2(GenPu) MS3 and the pig-rich factory tune. A friend had a Liquid Silver one and it was blowing soot out the back. Such a shame.

If you're interested in more, PM MarcHarris on here, he's a local detailer and might know more about that application than the dealer.

I wouldn't let the dealership touch your car... unless you want the DISO*

*Dealer induced swirl option.
