Cleaning the inside of the windshield

That has to be the toughest part of detailing. I have to clean the inside of the windshield in my wife's car. It has become REALLY bad. I know it will take multiple attacks to get it really clean. But then what? So I had an odd thought.

Has anyone, after thoroughly cleaning the inside of the windshield, ever treated it with Rain-X to make it easier to clean next time? If so, how did it work?

I have not used rainx inside. But using crumpled newspaper on the inside with auto windex is a snap. (Of course you're old school so you probably know that. )
I lay a piece over the dash too to avoid overspray.

But Charlie, these days where do you find a newspaper?

lol - now that is a true story!

I also use them for starting fires in the wood stove for winter. When I'm down at Stanford Medical they have a number of papers around waiting rooms. I've been asking and they've been collecting a stack for me each time.

I like those things. I usually wrap a micofiber around it so I don't scratch the dash with it

I use to use paper to start fires but have been using a propane torch for a couple of years now. I like that much better.

Sir, next time you're coming down, shoot me a PM! You probably won't feel up to grabbing a beer, but either way! I know good coffee shops that you'd like

As to the OP, I hate doing the windshield too. I haven't used the Rain-X treatment, but I have used their window cleaner - seems to keep the window cleaner longer, easier to clean and it defrosts quicker (this could all be a placebo effect, but I swear this all happens lol).

That thing looks like it would be especially useful in cleaning the rear windshield.

newspaper replacement

I have found that using the blue colored shop paper towels work pretty well also and they don't tear as easily. You can use them for multiple purposes as well.

I've been using Stoner Invisible Glass, so far haven't seen any streaks.

+1 on the Stoner Invisible glass cleaner. I have been using that with some shop towels and MF towels and it works great.

I use Stoner's IG and a couple of dedicated microfiber glass towels. Spray the towel, clean the glass, follow up with a dry microfiber towel to dry.

When I clean glass, I do the outside glass in one direction, and the inside glass in another. When you pull the car into the sun, you can see which side of the glass needs to be redone to eliminate streaks.

I also have a Stoner's invisible glass tool to do the rear window. You have to be a contortionist to get into the back seat and clean the glass without one!

Yesterday I used Earth Friendly Products Window Kleener with vinegar and a washcloth rag. It worked great.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

I struggle to even come close I always have streaks! I'm gonna give this Stoner a try. I've heard about newspapers I just can't imagine that it works? You put windex on the window and then wipe with newspapers?

You crumple up the newspaper. I don't know if its the grade/absorption of the paper, or the ink?
But it works great on all kinds of glass. Streak free. Even for you heavy breathers.

We have a spray at work that I use. It's a spray used to clean safety glasses. Has some type of anti fog stuff in it. Windex completely sucks nowadays. I wouldn't use rainex inside either. Rainex does or at least did make something for the inside. A mixture of alcohol and distilled water works pretty good too. Crumpled news paper also works great.
