Chrome wheel cleaner/polish

Whats everyone using to clean/polish their wheels?

Anyone have any tips/tricks to keep them shining through the winter rain?

I just use some Eagle 1 All Wheel and Tire cleaner to clean off all the brake dust and junk. It does pretty well, and whatever it doesn't clean off it at least loosens up. I then use a shop rag to get into all the little spaces where there is still dirt. Once they are totally clean, I apply a coat of Turtle Wax Ice on the wheel surface. I use the Ice because I have a nearly full bottle and I hate it on my paint, it streaks too much and is a beetch to use. But it does nicely on the wheels, so at least I am using it for something.

The wax on the wheels helps keep the brake dust from sticking as easily, and is much easier to clean off. Just don't use the wheel cleaner stuff after you have waxed the wheels because it will strip off the wax.

You can use any wax, I just happen to have a full bottle of Ice laying around that I will never use on the paint of my Mustang so I use it on the wheels. Only reason I won't use it on the paint is I can never quite get it to come off without streaking. I just like my Meguiars NXT better for the paint. The Ice is kind of nice though, because if you don't get all of it off there is no white residue left when dry, it dries clear. Clear when it goes on, clear dry, clear 3 weeks down the road.

For the wheels, use whatever wax you have laying around that you aren't using anymore. Any of the usual wax products will do just fine for wheels.

Just to clarify. You are talking about the "liquid polish" correct? not the spray?

Yes, the liquid polish. Just put some on a small sponge to get into all the small spaces. After 10 minutes or so buff it off with a microfiber towel, and stand back and enjoy!

I use Wheel Wax from American Racing. Here is a link on wheel care for different finishes and one for the Wheel Wax.

Nothing fancy, Turtle Wax Chrome Polish.

Been using this stuff for years on my drum gear hardware and works great for both, and pretty cheap.

+1 I use the Mothers Chrome polish with my Powerball mini. It makes easy work of keeping the rims shiny.

Wheel Wax has no cleaning or polishing effects. It is strictly a protectant type product.
