I've used Maguiar's Hot Rims All Wheels for some time on various cars. I also use it on the tires to get the brake dust off of them and then treat them with Griot's Garage Vinyl and Rubber Dressing so they have a great deep black matte appearance.

I hate shiny tires. Rubber is NOT shiny. The Griot's product produces a matte finish that is a deep black.

I just wash them once a week with the rest of the car. I make sure I reach in and wash the rim all the way through, too. Then I blow them with a leaf blower to get the water from around the lug nuts. I have not had a problem with break dust damage or residue so far.

You should check out the California Rim duster on Amazon, it is perfect for removing brake dust in between washes.

I agree with weekly wheel cleaning. The longer brake dust sits, the harder it is to remove. Even if I'm not doing a major detailing on the whole car, I clean the wheels frequently. Usually all it takes is any kind of cleaner I can grab at the time...Fantastik, Windex, ammonia, whatever, and I clean the inside of the wheels. The only cleaning supply that's not in my arsenal is wheel de-greaser....never use the stuff. The dust comes right off but you have to stay on top of it.

Recommend looking into something like Shine Supply "Cool Guy" wheel cleaner. Its designed to react with the embedded braked dust and dissolve the metallic material. Product turns from clear to purple while its working its magic.

Also safe on all types of wheels which is nice for someone like myself who encounters a variety

I have a special brush that goes all the way thru - use Meguires car wash to begin with and then polish it up with Chemical Guys WAC303 Wheel Guard Rim and Wheel Sealant - 8 oz. I use BLACKFIRE All-In-One Trim & Tire Protectant on the tires. It also works on all the black plastic trim - nice! Not shiny very matt looking lasts a long time on the tires.
