Blue Dawn Detergent?

Ok,
After reading several post, What is the Deal with using Blue Dawn detergent to wash the car with?

Does not Dish Detergent remove all of the important "stuff" from the cars
finish?

I have used various different Car Washes for Years, but have always heard to

"NOT USE DISH WASH DETERGENT" on a cars finish.

The only time I have heard of using Dawn for carwash is IF you want to strip all the wax/polish off the car so you can clay bar it. I do this once or twice a year: when I take the car out and when I put it away.

dawn, or any dishwash soap will strip off wax, and over time will eat away at the paint. just use soaps specific for cars

When I bought my Zaino kit, I washed the car with Dawn to remove old wax. I clayed the car and applied the Zaino. I would not use Dawn on a regular basis, only if I needed to remove old wax and start again. As long as I keep using Zaino, I don't guess I need to worry!

As already mentioned, the only time you would use it is to remove/strip all of the old wax off of the car before doing a complete detail (clay bar, polish, glaze, sealant, etc). I use it once a year when I take the car out of storage when I detail the car.

Yes, the blue dawn dishwashing liquid. Once to get rid of the carnuba wax. IMO, then never again as long as you continue to use Zaino.

The other time to use it is in a spray bottle when you are going to apply rally stripes or other decals - for the same purpose though: get rid of any wax so the adhesive sticks.

I didn't know what the heck to do with the rest of the bottle until the daughter got an apartment in Boston with no dishwasher.

just look at it this way. when the commercial says dawn has awesome grease cutting power and will remove any stubborn residue............on a car thats called wax! like everyone else on here the only time id use it is if i wanted to strip the wax off the car. other than that, it will never reach the surface of my car

After hving "her" car, cleared and wet sanded, multiple times, then 3m Ultra finessed, then applying Wolfgang Pre-cleaner, then Wolfgang Paint Sealant, and finally applying multiple, multiple coats of Pinnacle Carnuba,
THE LAST THING THAT I WANT TO DO IS REMOVE THE WAX?????????????

Check out photos at Magic City Mustangs Big Show 9 topic or ask Brad Barnett ( Project Source Horse) about the car and the finish at the show.

And Brad , our "little secret" from last years Big Show is still our "little secret"
