Baking Soda

I've heard a few old timers talk about incorporating baking soda into their car washing routine. Some have even mentioned using strictly baking soda and water to wash their cars.

What say you all?

Sounds abrasive to me, I wouldn't dare do it.

I do use it to clean corroded battery cables. Mixed with water to a soupy consistency and applied with a toothbrush, it works wonders on them.

Soda blasting is the same as Sand blasting, using commercial type soda instead of sand as the paint removing agent.

Do Not add soda to your wash water, it does not desolve and will act as
if you threw a handfull of wet sand on the paint surface and then rubbed/scrubbed it in.

If you want this effect, try dipping your wash mitt in the cat liter box between washing and rinsing, tons of scratches and a boat load of S---!

Could he have confused baking soda with white vinegar? Some folks put a couple drops of WV in their water bucket saying it eliminates water spots.

Oh no. I meant baking soda. It never did sound like the thing to do, and everyone here has confirmed it so far.

Now, about this white vinegar... Yea or nea? Never heard of this technique.
