anyone detail their engine?
ok so the paint and interior is SPOTLESS. now i need to tackle the engine bay. anyone do a full detail on this yet? im hesitant to turn the hose onto it after laying down some degreaser. ive seen many videos of ppl doing this, read tons of posts about it saying its safe and what not but everyone says the same thing. every car is different and what might be safe to wet on one engine might not be on another. so, anyone do it to their SN197 yet?

wow, that looks fantastic!
I've got a lot of pollen buildup in my engine bay,I think I'll take it to a detailer, and have them spray it down, then when its clean, I clean the hoses with tire black, armor all on some other pieces, just soapy water on the rest

About once every month I clean the engine bay. I do this in the morning after the car sits all night. I start the car and let it run for a few minutes just to get the engine warm. I use Simple green to spray everything down. Make sure you don't let it dry. I will use a fine bristle brush in areas where dirt might build up (strut towers, firewall, etc), then rinse everything off. I then start the car, close the hood and wash down the entire car just incase some simple green got onto the exterior paint. Shut off the car, dry the car, pop the hood and wipe down anything I can reach. People that have seen my car always ask "What year is your car and how many miles on it". When I say I got it in Nov 2004 and have over 60,000km they can't believe it
Speaking of which, it is going to be warm this week. I will finally be able to completely detail my car this year.

I use Greased Lightning orange blast to degrease the engine. After soaking it, I let it work for a few minutes. Then I cover the delicate parts under the hood and rinse with water. After that, use CD-2 engine detailer to make it shine. That stuff is gold in a can. If you can get your hands on it, give it a try.
Here's mine at the moment. Will be yanking out the motor in a couple weeks, but basically should look exactly the same when the swap is complete.
Zaino products on all the black plastic stuff and hoses.
Adam's In & Out spray for the Shaker scoop.
Novus polish for the powdercoated chrome camcovers.
Mothers Billet Polish for the Canton tanks and blower (although I haven't polished it yet).

I would like to know this also, and is there anyway of making Valve Covers look better without taking them off. Just until I can afford to get ones that are painted or Chrome. These things are really awful looking, I had a 2003 Mach and they looked really great. But it seems Ford's stopped making the nice ones after that because I saw some 2004 Machs and they looked awful just like the ones now on my 2008 GT/CS. Crappy Craftmanship on these Valve Covers.
