Why Does My 2014 GT Smell After Driving Hard?

OK this isn't like burning clutch smell, it's clearly from the muffler area. Now we did have replacement mufflers (factory) from Ford put on a few months ago after hitting a pothole (insurance paid for new mufflers, etc, even though damage was cosmetic). But it seems like that was long enough ago that any new stuff should have burnt off by now.

It happens after driving the car a little hard, having a little fun with it for a few minutes.

5000 miles on the car.

Base GT, 3.73

Thanks
Tom

It's from the engine. It's normal.

When I first read your title I figured you just needed to change deodorant.
Once I read the rest, I think you are still just smelling the 'newness'. In our GT (which is babied most of the time) we had some burnt smells right up to about the 10,000 miles mark whenever I decided to exercise the GT a bit. Now we have 19,000 miles and the smells are long gone.

Give it a bath after it exercises and it'll smell great again.

Hello oceantracks,

As per my Technical Specialist, the exhaust does get hotter under hard acceleration and this odor could be normal. Quality of fuel may also have an effect on the type of odor.

However, if you do not feel comfortable with it, please bring your vehicle in to your Ford dealer for diagnosis and PM me with your VIN, full name, mileage, dealer, and best daytime number so I can escalate this to the customer service manager for your area.
