I really don't understand why Ford named his top Mustang Cobra. Mustang is a wild horse. Cobra is a snake.
How can they be together?
Why didn't they call is something horse-related, like maybe Stallion?

There's been debate. I think Ford was trying to pick a car from their past, and Cobra was it. it seems like they could have picked a better name for the car. Not that Cobra is a *BAD* name, but it may not have been completely appropriate for the Mustang SVT version.
I don't know why they picked Cobra, but I think that the reason they wouldn't have named it "Stallion" was because the Stallion name was on some limited production custom 1967 mustang sold out of a Ford dealership in Canada. Here's a link about it http://people.freenet.de/pony/stallion.htm
It was also about the use of the name Cobra, because alot of the kit car companies were using that name on their kits os Ford had to sue them and claim that they had the rights to that name(that started under shelby of course!) and that it was currently being used.
