What started your love of mustangs/ cars?
#2
Think it all started with my Dad's '65. It wasn't anything special, maybe it has more with the memories of those days more than the car itself. After I got my first one in '95 it was all over, pretty much had one ever since, even if it was just the wife's car for a little while, back to a two Mustang family again.

My brother had a 04 GT and like how cheap it was to work on and mod! Then he traded it for his 11 5.0 I stared to like them more, I had a 04 GTO with 475 rwhp and loved it, but when I was hit by a drunk driver I decided to try somthing different and bought me a 06 GT and very pleased with it, and love how cheap it is to mod and how easy it is to find parts.

My dad, and his favorite story was about his 1970 T5 Mach he bought new in Germany (of course) and running up and down the autobahn and most especially the time he raced a BMW and the BMW blew the engine.
It was from those stories that my passion for cars grew from.

First car was an 86' Casuallac and it broke down all of the time. Blew oil seals and was a total nightmare. After that I got my hands on a 2000 Ford Stranger Sport and drove that bad boy for 7 years.. That was until an old guy in a Cadillac thought he ha a four way stop and he had the right of way.. He took me out and it was 100% his fault. I actually talked my buddy into selling me the Mustang that I now own, love, and cherish. After the SCT3 Tune I just kept on loving it more and more as the days continued. I will always own a Mustang for the rest of my days now and have plans one day to own a 70 Boss 302 in.. BLACK! I also love the camaraderie between fellow Stang owners. The only time I met a d-bag pony owner was a guy driving a 427 Roush but I didn't let it phase me much.

I never was much into cars until I bought my first and only Stang. When it was time to sell my '97 Altima, I was looking into buying a Charger SRT-8 but couldn't find one in my area that was within my budget. I brought this predicament to my buddy(an SN95 owner) who simply told me: "Dude, girls love Mustangs."...He swayed me. So I did a quick Internet search and found my '06 GT nearby, well within my budget. I was impressed at first and was having fun with it. As I learned more and more about the car, and started modding it, my vague crush on the car turned into a full blown obsessive love affair. I love my mustang, and love the "Mustang Brotherhood" that most Mustang owners are unofficially a part of. Haha. When I still had temp tags, other mustang owners would flash their lights at me and wave, it felt pretty good. I joined a club by purchasing a piece of American cultural heritage. Good stuff.

I grew up around cars my whole life, but my dad was/is a chevy guy. Some friends in high school had Mustangs, I drove a 4wd truck. After high school my truck gave up the transmission so I went car shopping. Found a 2000 crystal white automatic GT. Not really thinking I would prefer a stick shift later as the performance bug hit me, I grabbed it up and fell in love. The mod bug started, decked that car out nicely but was never fully satisfied with it due to the auto tranny. Eventually found a '96 Mystic Cobra and found my true Mustang love. it fit my personallity pefectly and driving style to the tee.

Maybe my mom telling me I couldn't have one... My dad was a chevy guy before he passed and had old panel trucks and worked on airplanes. Grew up working on stuff... When I finally could get the car I wanted, I grabbed an auto trader and started my search. Picked it up that night and have been hooked. This is #2.

Back in the late 80's my parents had friends that had an 85 GT. They let me drive it all the time. Big mistake on there part, i beat the snot out of that thing. Then in the early 90's i bought my own. A 90 LX 5.0 hatch. Loved that car

It was when the 1987 models came out. I was 16 and just getting my license, and a regular reader of Car and Driver. Reading about the 87's and seeing them on the streets was what turned me into a Mustang fan. I still love the 87-93 models. Especially the LX 5.0 hatches.

I was a GM man (kid). Now I'm a little older than most here. I had GTO's and 455 CI Firebirds. I lived thru the hot rod days and remember it fondly. I raced quarter mile and my buddy had a bad Cobra Jet Fairlane, 428 SJ motor. I will not go into his story but he has the original car back and its fully restored (He found it) and the engine is about to be started. Anyway, I was never a Ford guy. However, as the years passed and the cars got stale, I started reading about Mustangs, STV's. Anyway, when I saw the 2005 I was hooked. I have a 2008 and got to tell you I love to drive this car. My buddies car has stock suspension, which is terrible compared to todays cars. This is why current Mustangs are the best ever built, esp. the Boss. I don't know why Shelbys never caught my eye.

My Bro had a AMC Javelin... Loved that car. Love the AMX. Was into the whole 90's import tuner thing. Had Two hyundai Tiburon's. Started making kids and needed a more "roomy car" Picked up a PT cruiser Turbo. Now that the kids are older I thought it was time to treat myself to some real power and style. Was looking at The newer GTO, Mustang, G8... Really wanted something RWD and stick. The GTO was just too ugly for me. The G8 is auto only (no way I could afford the GXP 5-speed). Always Loved the style of the 2005-2009 Mustang. I was driving past the dealer by my house and for months a 2008 Grabber orange Mustang GT was sitting there just calling me. Checked it out and loved it. I get more complements on this car then I can take... I mean people are really attracted to this car and they LOVE telling me. The thing thats funny is on the outside it's pretty much stock.

I've always been a Ford fan, mainly because my father had a succession of Ford company cars in the UK (Cortinas and Sierras mainly).
My real love was the Capri. This was introduced in Europe in '69 and was our version of the Mustang. It's code name was Colt! However, unlike the Mustang, Ford never really developed the car and both Mk1 and Mk3 were very similar under the skin.
I've owned several Mk3s, and this was my last one.........owned just about 6 months before I went shopping for the S197.
As Ford stopped making the Capri in '87, there's been nothing like it, for me, at least until the S197 appeared, so it was a natural progression for me!
Obviously, even from a young age, the Mustang was known to me. Blame Hollywood, Steve McQueen and a Highland Green fastback

My love of cars? Dunno for sure. Being born in the late 70's, I was old enough to remember muscle cars, but grew up through the painful 80's. Also, watching the Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider.
What started my love of Mustangs? Well, that's easy:

Hm...
I can't exactly say when or how it happened, but Dad is a Ford man. Oh, he's had others, but always, *always* had Fords.
He was into the Little Birds, mainly '57s (had 3 of them at once way back when) and also the '66 Tbirds.
My first car, we somehow decided that a little '78 Mustang II fit the bill. I LOVED that thing, even though it really was a POS. I want it back, badly, to this day.
Dad had enough of fixing it, so that got 'goned'. I then was put in a '66 Tbird for a while, it got TBoned. Drove another '66, I ran it into the back of a station wagon. Oops. Had to fix that one first, THEN fix my Tbird. I understood, it was only fair. Both wound up staying around a while.
Somehow, during all that, I wound up driving the '57 in Thunderbird Bronze... and that's pretty cool for a High School kid...
But then came the '65 Pre-GT convertible V8 Mustang, which I got to drive a bit before I got the '66 back and running for my Senior year. Still, that was it. I was a Mustang Man after that car. I loved drivin' that around.
Got a '66 for myself and completely restored it. Then sold it.
Had an '86 SVO for a bit until it blew up.
Other cars came and went. Now I have Awesome and there is absolutely NO CHANCE IN HECK she is ever leaving me.
Evar.
/Barring a seriously unfortunate issue. I'll convert her to auto before I let her go if my leg doesn't let me shift. Or my arm.
//The other possibles I just don't want to think about, because they'd all hurt her directly.
///Uh, I guess I *can* say where/when/how. Heh.
