Well my first car was a v6 Mustang. I've enjoyed it, despite knowing it's not a powerhouse with it's 193 horsepower. However at some point in the near future i'm going to subplant myself in something nice, I was just wondering if you had some description/comparable way of stating what exactly it's like to drive a 300hp+ beast like the new GT's or Cobra's. I mean, exactly how much 'quicker' is it?

I know my Mustang is a slug when it comes to acceleration in the lower 0-30mph range I feel. Since i've never actually driven any other car (i have driven a 2002 bmw 7 series, and a 2001 3 series on occassion, but they're both auto's).

I know driving the 7 felt really weird i'd just depress the accelerator to start and unlike my Mustang (where as soon as you depress the pedal you'll accelerate) there'd be a little period where depressing didn't do anything, then you'd depress it enough and you'd shoot forward, it was super sensitive, and felt awkward driving such a huge car.

Anyway just wanted the personal opinions of all of you guys with hot cars

well when i started driving my '73 i was either taking of like a granny or chirping the tires
I think driving 300 hp involves constant smiles, scared passengers and higer gas bills

OUr 93 isnt over 300 but is close to it and I can tell you its a lot funner to drive than something with less. Most of the time I drive a 96 Explorer with a 5.0 so I dont really have much to base it on but I have driven other things that were slugs. I drove my brothers 01 Focus and my dad's 01 Ranger with a 4.0L. The ranger will jump a little bit but it still doesnt compare to the two 5.0s I drive most of the time.

Every time I get in my car my heart beats faster and it is a total rush. I am not kidding I have not had that feeling as far as a car goes since I was 18 and my dad let me drive in 66 Corvette.

I have gotten the opportunity to drive the 2005 Ford GT that is in the dealership I work at, on several occations. Nothing, AND I mean nothing, that I have rode in, not driven, but just rode in, (and that includes a Lamborghini Murcielago around Pocono Speedway @W 170 MPH ), puts a smile on my face like that car. The thrust on the GT is just INSANE. The best, and easiest supercar to drive, IMO. For 550 HP (VERY conservitively rated IMA), the car drives around town like a Mustang GT, nimble, not tempremental. Not hard to drive at all. Just have to pay attention to others that rubberneck when they see you, and remember your only 5 inches off the ground, so the car CAN bottom out on some bad roads.

I went from an 03 Honda civic EX, with 127hp to my 05 Mustang GT. The Mustang is the first car I bought because I really wanted it, not for the price, resale or practicality. I actually felt the Civic was pretty peppy, no I didn't think it was fast but it went along well enough. Was fun taching it out to red line and shifting. The shifter in those cars are very good.

So I test drove the 05 and took it rather easy but imeadiately felt a HUGE differance in power, heck I didn't even find the floor board under the gas peddal for close to a month. The first time opening it up full throttle, I was grinning like a fool and it actually took my stomach away like a carnival ride.

Well worth the price of admission.

When you accelerate hard you feel youself being pushed back into the seat and it's a good feeling. The scary thing is that at every light you can pull into the right lane that ends just beyond the cross street and you KNOW there not a car that will stop you from getting there well in front of the rest... fun, but a ticket just waiting to happen, but still sooo.... addictive.

I dont think id say that....300 Hp aint much, haha. sayin that lightly beings my vette has 900 horses at rears, and my 70 has a 720 hp big block....

I can say this though, they are still fun to drive, and you can break the tires loose real easy. i had an 03 mach1 which was 305HP, andi t was a fun playtoy, but still couldnt beat a stock 90 corvette.

and a note on the GT that is rated at 550hp with that 6 lb pulley..... that motor can take over 20 lbs of boost with race gas......thats over 1500 horse possibility at REAR wheels! thats so awsum! - Roger

Compared to your basic daily driver, even if its in the 300HP range, driving a 600HP big block Mustang is like a jump to light speed!

Way to throw in the canadian eh in there. And anyways once you have 300 hp you want 400 so no matter what everyone keeps on dreaming what it would be like.

The feeling?

A W E S O M E

My Bettie Page is the 1st performance vehicle I've ever owned/driven, and I will say that every—and I mean every ride in her is exhilarating!
A car like this wants to be driven fast.

From the first test drive I could immediately feel the difference in torque.
When I finally had Her in my possession, and had the opportunity to open up the throttle, I was blown away.
Sure, for those that have 500+ HP vehicles, 300 ponies doesn't seem like much, but She's got more than enough pep for me...for now...

And, the look of absolute terror on the faces of my passengers...priceless!!!

Haha, see. We even write like that. And yes, the next hundred hp is always on your mind.

This is the best time of year for us supercharged guys. The air is cool and dense which equals even more power. I usually run my BTM at 2 in the summer heat but on these nice 50 degree days I put it on 0 retard for an extra 50-60hp at the wheels. You can just touch the gas and it will break loose. Love it, fun fun fun. Nothing like having a ricer rev at you and you blow the tires off running 60mph. For some reason they just won't play no more
