If I were a betting person, I would say the driver is totally intoxicated and doesn''t even realize he or she is only driving on 3 wheels!

 

When I was a Lieutenant on our Engine 3, we responded to a reported car fire in one of our residential neighborhoods at 3:00 o'clock inthe morning On our arrival, there was a car in the middle of the road with the left front wheel worn down to just the hub like in the video above and the driver's door wide open and the keys still in the ignition. The plastic fender well liner was smouldering. The Police arrived and found an empty bottle of Jack Daniels on the front seat. They ran the license plate and it came back to the resident of the house where the car was parked. They knocked on the front door, but there was no answer.

They started to look around for the operator when I mentioned that we could use our thermal imaging camera. We pulled it out and you could see the heat signature of what was hands and knees leading from the car and up the driveway of the house across the street. The operator was on the back deck trying to crawl into a window of a house that wasn't even his!

He miserably failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. Back at the police station, he blew a .24 on the breathalyzer... 3 times the legal limit.

It turned out that he left a party in Boston and had driven back to Marlborough. Somewhere in the 26 mile trip he blew out the tire and kept on going.

 

I think I would have been more concerned about staying away from the Mustang than filming it.
