Hey I have 1965 mustang and I'm looking to maybe putting explorer motor or something Ho. Don't know much about it but what year would be the best?

I currently have a 289 4 speed in it with 3:73 gears. It needs another gear. Should I just put in a 5 speed or look for a fuel injected? Advice appreciated.

 

I have a T5 5sp and love it.
I would start with that first.
problem with the explorer motor (which is a good cheap option) is you are very limited on headers that will work with the GT40P heads that are on that engine, and if you do a cam swap (stock cam sucks,truck cam) on that engine you have to change the valve springs on the heads.
start with the T5 swap them figure out how much power you want and can afford then go from there.

That is the wrong gears and set up for a transfer case!
Not what you want!
Get one from a 1986 to 1993 mustang with the 5.0
Look up T5 conversion for 1965 mustang, many people have put together great parts lists to help you do it right!
