Taking the Track Pack to the Track

Newbie here. I now have 3 Mustangs in my fleet. Both of my kids have a V6 (keep the insurance down) and I just got my 2013 GT with the Track Package after I traded in my 2010 SHO. With only 500 miles on the GT, I thought it was time to take it to the track. I went to Mid Ohio Sports Car Course 50 minutes north of Columbus.

I’ve been on this track before, so I opted for the “Open Track” option, which means no speed restrictions, and you can pass on the straights. My son took his 2012 V6 and went in the “Lead Follow” group to learn the track. My top speed on the back stretch was just a hair under 140 MPH and my top G reading was 1.11 G’s. The Brembo breaks are worth their weight in gold and they cooled down well after my runs. I installed JLT Oil Separators and had about a tablespoon worth of oil after all was done.

I also installed the BBK 85MM Throttle Body and the Airaid CAI along with the Bama Race Tune. Next up is Magnaflow Competition Cat Back exhaust system and a new shifter. The stock shifter is real bad, especially trying to find 3rd while taking a high-speed turn trying to downshift.

Bottom line, the Track Pack is worth every penny. The breaks, and the tires were awesome. The extra cooling for the engine with the larger BOSS radiator and oil cooler was very noticeable. Looking forward to being part of the forum!

SHOSKER,

Welcome to TMS and Congratulations on the 13'! I love that you and your son can go to the track together and share the same interest, that's awesome. You'll meet a lot of great people and find a ton of awesome reads on this forum! The 13' GT is an amazing machine. I got a few chances to take out our GHIG 13' GT and it was a blast! A Magnaflow Catback and a Short Shifter will really wake your Stang up. Thank you for your business and loyalty!

Let me know if you ever have any questions.

-Dan

There is only one short throw shift kit and that is the MGW. Designed for the road course and frankly the one of choice by the majority of Mustang owners on this site.

www.mgwltd.com

The owner has had numerous Mustangs, and currently has a Boss ( his second one )
