Supercharger Decision time

Opinions please..

Pro charger stage II inter cooled supercharger
Or...
X-charger Xtreme Supercharger Kit

This would be for my '05 4.0 V6 w/ Pypes shorty headers and Magnaflow Duel Catback exhaust.

Vortec is a better blower than procharger.

A lot will have to due with your budget. My vote is for an inter-cooled top mounted kit of some kind. The Vortec is great, but the kit takes up a lot of the space in the engine bay and just makes everything look cramped, in my opinion.

He's got a V6. There's room.

Hell, now that I go back and read again, I see. Sorry. Still, based on your budget, that are a lot to choose from...

Yup. But for around $10k he can probably just upgrade the entire car to a GT.

Yes, or a crate engine/tranny would be about the same price as well, but a blown V6 would get him more power than a stock GT any day of the week.

But it won't be a V8 mustang. Won't have that rumble. Won't have that great torque. I hate to insult the sixers. If the reason you own one is because of insurance reasons, I understand. Go ahead and supercharge it. Usually age/insurance premiums have a lot to do with buying a sixer. If this is not the case then there is no reason to spend that much money boosting a Sixer. Just get a V8 stang instead.

Agreed...more or less. I bought a 2005 V6 brand new back in '05 when they first came out because I couldn't afford a GT. I was still in the Navy and my '91 GT 5.0 'Vert crapped the tranny and I was tired of working on the dammed thing and didn't want to ship it back to the states (I was stationed in Hawaii), so I sold it and decided to buy a new one.

And even if you could spring for the GT, insurance premium on a V6 compared to a V8 mustang for a young man is ridiculous.

Yes, But I was 25 at the time, so it wasn't that bad. I'm 32 now and I only pay about $30 for full coverage on my '09 and even less that that for my daily driver F-150. Of course, I've never had a speeding ticket or any other blemish in my entire history of driving, so that probably counts for something.

Ok, so aside from the "Get a GT" response...Personally, I'd go with the X-Charger Xtreme, unless you have/want a Shaker scoop.

However, if the SC kit isn't going to put you at the power level that you ultimately want, then trading up to a GT might very well be the best option for you.
