My mom just renewed for $101 p/year she had a $14 credit. Not sure how that compares to other deals? Her original contract was for $409 for two years! I told her do not sign up for that, that is just plain crazy!!!

That time of year again. This time I cancelled completely just before Christmas and waited... First a sweet e/mail offer for $25 for 6 months and no reactivation fee. That was a very good deal but I don't want to have to go through this in just 6 months again. Just not worth it, and if I forget, I get nailed with the full price. They conveniently forget to send you a renewal notice sometimes.

Got a call yesterday for $99 for the full year plus the taxes, etc.. and no reactivation fee. That hit my $10 per month goal so I'm good to go again until next Jan 13. The rep did tell me to call during the summer to just ask about an extension for another year at the same savings. It's either a quick yes or no deal with no waiting or transferring around. I might just do that instead of the time consuming cancelling and waiting again. Dumb games but enough people out there pay that FULL price which is basically double. For me, that's just too high.

Blue tooth your phone to your car and get a music service. Google music is 10 dollars a month. Better selection that you have control over plus you can listen to it from any where.. your car.. PC..phone.. tablet.. for no extra cost.. just log in and start listening.

I agree with most of your point but there are some of us who live/travel on the edge of, or on the far side, the digital frontier. No or weak cell coverage, 4G is a rumor, or out on vacation trips where satellite radio is the only option. I am going to check out the cancellation threat option though.
