My 2006 mustang, Shaker 500 quit working a month ago or more. The week before it quit, it would reset itself overnight like it does when battery is disconnected. Then it just quit working all together, but still comes on randomly once in a while, and will keep working till I shut the car off for an extended period then nothing again. It does save the station presets. All the fuses look good, and I have switched them out to make sure. Took the head unit clear out to check the plugs, they seem tight. Just wondering if there is a relay or something to check, or if I need to replace the head unit. If I do need to replace, is there a good plug n play unit I can get to replace Shaker 500?

Replace it with aftermarket. Mine ate all the cd's, got a nice Pioneer single DIN unit from the Mrs. for Christmas and wow! wish I did it sooner, such better sound. Do yourself a favor and ditch the stock speakers, you can get 4 3-way speakers for around $100-150, and you'll be amazed at how much better they sound. Factory speakers are a joke. Only thing I miss is rev matched volume.
