.... and the date code on the tires sidewall. Very important. Some people say 'brand new tires' but the code can indicate otherwise. If you don't know what I am talking about, look for the DOT mark on the sidewall. It will be followed by 4 numbers, like 5009. That would indicate the tires were made in the 50th week of 2009. 2512 would mean the 25th week of 2012. You get the idea. Almost every site agrees that tires over 6 years old have reached the 'end point' for safety at highway speeds.
