That's pretty much the only issue I have with the 65-68 cars are those bad gaps between the hood and left front fender... Don't know why Ford never addressed this until the arrival of the redesigned 69-70 Mustang If only Ford had designed the front end of the 65-68 Mustang as they had with the redesigned 69-70 models, the Mustang would've been an absolutely flawless body style design IMO.

Sure got that right!
But they moved it from front to the back, lol. Look at the right side trunk gap on the 69-70 where it meets the plastic end cap on the quarter. 70 for sure.

Nice find, Lee! I never really noticed the trunk gap on the 69-70 Mustang until you just brought it to my attention on this thread... In the meantime, thanks for the awesome heads up...

Mine still has it, was left alone when it was restored in the 80s.

No worries, Lee! Meanwhile, I can definitely see by the images where the driver's side of the trunk has more of a wider gap over the passenger side... Wonder if this was a design flaw or if it was an error during the assembly process. In the meantime, thanks for posting the image pics.

You're welcome Rocky.
No idea, could have been design or assembly. Don't think its error in assembly because I've seen WAYYY too many through the years that have it. I Notice it every time one that's unrestored or restored exactly on Mecum or BJ auctions, one of the first things I notice, but probably just because of my history with a 70

Totally agree 100% Lee... Knowing you've seen so many through the years can pretty much rule out errors during the assembly process... Just like you said, it's more than likely some sort of design or assembly/manufacturing flaw... Either way, it's just something we all have to accept, like it or not.

Did you notice the last pic? I didn't till I posted it. The elusive Cobra in it's natural element, hiding in the dark, stalking prey coming by. Like Camaros, hellcats and corvettes

Lee! I'd be lying if I said I'd noticed your 2020 GT500/Cobra hiding in the dark, waiting to stalk its prey coming by as in Crapmaros, Hellcats and Corvettes prior to bringing it up... I suppose that in the heat of the moment, my full attention was drawn to your 1970 Mustang's trunk gap... LOL
Rocky, I didn't notice til I posted and caught a glimpse of the stripe and red caliper. Thought, no wonder a Cobra is so deadly, you don't notice it til it's too late

But in the end, you did notice, Lee... And yes, I couldn't agree more on the reason a Cobra is so deadly... Just as you said, it's prey doesn't notice it's presence until it's already too late
