Roads.

So, firstly, it's seems we don't have a 'Trip Report/Maps to play on' section type thing, so I put it here. If'n' y'all Mods wanna make such a section then move it, great! I approve in advance.

Now with that huey outta the way.... I did these:

https://goo.gl/maps/ygDpzjmnCsP2

https://goo.gl/maps/befe2ndCy252

In that order. From Zuba Park to Decker Prairie to Chappell Hill to Washington on the Brazos, to Pickens/Bluff/1935/97 to 390 to Independence to Burton (390 is FUN FUN FUN) to Round Top to Florida Chapel/Roznov to Fayetteville...

Then a stop for a spell for relief, then on to Ross Prairie Church to Brunes Mill, where a dang bridge was washed out. It was fun to get pics (I'll post maybe when I clean out the phone) and just look at it all... there was a deer that leaped out and over the washed out road 15 feet below... and kept on going. I didn't think I was *that* hideous...

Anyway, map 2, turned around, went back to Fayetteville because road to New Ulm starts there, it's a hoot, then on down to the middle of nowhere south of Cat Springs then up to Cat Springs, then up to Bellville via 949 which is one fun road, and on over on 529 where I stop because I don't want any doxxing or whatever the internet does with info like that on where I might be.

Most of these roads are real pretty, and the bits between Chappell Hill to Round Top are part of the Texas Independence Trail (except Pickens/Bluff, but the long stretch of 390 from 105 is *boooriinnngg...*)

I highly recommend this route, with whatever between the start/ends you want, and maybe skip the Brunes part, or take a left on Brushy when the sign says bridge out to make a loop back to Fayetteville.

What brought all this on?

Well, turns out at Zuba park, there's this miniature, rideable train setup. Check it:

http://hals.org/

Houston Area Live Steamers. They have a *lot* of these maybe 12-15 passenger trains, plus a G scale track with steam type trains that run about. Every 3rd saturday of the month they do this.

For free.

Of course, donations are accepted, and they sell stuff like tshirts and hats and all... And there were people lined UP for this thing. I got there at 9:30 and there was a hefty line, but thankfully a friend of mine got there first and they let me in that way... I felt bad, but we were a group, I's just late... and it was only me, so... eh.. I did it, but it's ok I think...?

Anyway, recommend that too for the coolness that is... even though it's hot... Ugh. Early is best.

So yeah! Get to Zuba, ride a train, check out the G track, then go on this route and you'll have a pretty decent day in a Mustang!

Sounds like you are having some serious FUN there. We sure enjoyed TX when we visited a few years back. We will always remember the Hill Country (especially the BBQ) and also cruising the beach roads around Galveston and down to Padre Island. Keep up the good times!

Good times in your Mustang. We/I use to do road trips with the Mazda MX-5 Club in Chattanooga. Great times, good people. I just couldn't get pass the little car syndrome. We almost got ran over more than once,
It was worse on the interstates than the back roads . Anyway I moved on to the Mustang GT CS. Glad I did, same ole good drives but larger car. The other drivers can see me now!!!!! Keep on enjoying your ride.......
