Rear end noise

I have an 09 gt that is making a sound in the rear that sounds like cans or metal being grinded up. It only does this at low acceleration and when I'm going to park. Any ideas on why or what this is?

It Should be Checked Out ASAP. The Longer you Wait The More Damage That Maybe Done and The More Expensive The Repair! Ujoints, Carrier Bearing If Equipped, Axle Bearings, Diff Bearings or Diff Gears Etc. Not Forgiving Failures. I would Stop Driving Until Checked Out!

Also A Failure in One of These Area's Could Lead to an Injury Accident! Be Safe!

You Might Get Lucky and it's a Minor Thing Like a Bent Brake Backing Plate or a Heat Shield Come Loose and Rubbing on Something as General Examples, But You need To Know for Sure!

KC

Sounds odd that it's only low speed acceleration and putting it in park. I might be thinking more trans. You'd think a pinion, ring gear, carrier bearing etc it would always be there and probably get worse with speed.

I have seen a pinion center itself at higher speeds, only making noise under acceleration or deceleration.
Might be a bad clutch pack in the rear also.

It also could be happening at other speeds but it is tough to hear. 2 years ago the rear end had to be repaired on my '01 Trans Am. I heard those exact sounds but only at low speeds. $894 later I was all set to go again. Here is a copy of my repair bill. Hopefully yours will be less.
