Quick question on gas

OK we all know gas prices are up there now. I have a question about Octane. I wanted to ask how everyone feels about using premium fuel. The mod shop told me that with the mods I have made I should use premium fuel. Picking up my car today or tomorrow from the shop so what do you think?

With any mods, you can still tune down for 87 octane. Sure, you might have to really dial back the timing (and sacrifice power), but if spending a lot of $ of mods has overtapped your gas budget, that's the price you pay.

My wife has asked me repeatedly why I "have" to run premium (92 octane around here) when I could save 30 cents a gallon by retuning for 87 octane. I fill up 3 times per month, so I'd save about $4 per tank or $12 per month. I chalk up that $12 to my "entertainment fund" and remind her that I don't smoke, drink, drug, etc. and that my Mustang is my fix.

Much agreed Brian! I've been telling my lovely bride the same for 25+ years...if I'm not at work, I can be found in, under or around our Mustang. Usually avoiding something that needs more attention...like painting the house!

Mods are 373 gears, CAI, tune, Roush exhaust..I think that's it now besides the esthetic things. So what's your thoughts on gas....premium probably right?

The only thing that would require higher octane fuel would be the settings on your tune. Who did the tune? Brenspeed, Bama, local shop, etc? Whoever wrote the tune is the one to ask. And if you want to run 87, they should be able to write a tune for that.
