There's a lot of variables here, as with any exhaust question. What's the rest of the exhaust system like? Headers? Catless? Or are you just putting an axle back on the stock system? Also, what do you want the car to sound like? Is it a daily driver, does drone really bug you?

Post up some answers to those questions, and well be able to help you more.

Well I've just purchased an 83 "mostly" Original GT Hatchback, it has a freshly rebuilt 302 V8 with a full 89 headers and exhaust system on it.....it seems to have the cats in place, but the mufflers are just too quiet!!

I do not intend to drive this daily, but mostly to cruise-in's and local shows...................so, I guess I don't want massive drone, but I would like it to wake up a bit in the sound department. I love the old school sound on these 80's Mustangs.

Make suggestions please

As far as the pypes brand, I'm a big fan of the pipe bombs. They're definitely on the loud side for a daily driver, but it doesn't seem like that'll be an issue for you. Plus since they're a straight through muffler they don't drone much like the chambered (ie violators) mufflers do. That'd be my choice.

I realized after I posted my reply above that the pype bombs might not be available for your fox body stang. I'm too used to thinking about S197s! Anyway, a muffler like the pypes M80, which IS available for your car, should have largely the same affect, without the drone of a chambered muffler.

Maybe someone who knows more than me will comment, but I did a google search for "pypes violator drone" and the general understanding I got was that there is "some" drone but "not as bad as flowmaster or mac" ... Drone really bugs me, personally, and so I wouldn't want them on my daily driver. But on a weekend/cruiser car, the violators are probably not a bad choice. The M80s, by nature of their straight through design, are going to be louder, and maybe more "raw" sounding, but the violators will probably sound a little "deeper." But exhaust is all highly subjective, and everybody has their own tastes.

Whatever you choose, I'm sure it'll sound great.
