Purchase 2012 or 2013

I was wanting to get some opinions here...

I purchased a 2012 premium GT conv., with 443 auto, 58N Electronics, 43S security pkg, 43T HID, 53B Comfort, 603 remote start, 64V 19" wheels, and 77C rear camera for 41989.00 after TT&L and rebates. Turns out there were a couple of scratches on the car and a lot of over spray from something but car never painted on. After two separate weeks to make everything right, all the over spray is gone but scratches are still visible to a fanatic like myself. Dealer nor I wants to paint on a new car (two different fenders, front and rear bumpers have 1 small scratch ea.). So they offered to give me 2000.00 cash to live with them and keep the car. Again, scratches are light and not really noticeable to the avg. joe.

2nd opt. they gave me was to take car back and order a 2013 with every compatible option for 45027 after TT&L. So this is above car but adding 55D brembo, 942 side scoops, 918 shaker pro.

Just curious...what would you do?

I'd say get yourself the 2000

But if they will bother you to the point you can't live with them, then I'd say go for the 2013 and spend those extra 4k. You'll get the track apps too which are awesome and the facelift and LED fogs and the new tailights which are 1k a piece from the dealer if bought separate. Also different car color choices!

The '13 is worth it. The new headlights and fogs are really bright so you can see plenty of the road! The selectshift on the auto still gives you control over your gear shifts, the talights are sick beyond measure, couple new color options, interior is more up to date and features tons of cool stuff. But this is all comin from a 19 year old college stufent with hopes of joining the military one day

My car was exactly the same, a few scratches minor but still, and a ton of overspray. I kept it thinking that it's my DD so it will get scratched eventually anyway. Plus I personally like the cladding vs. the paint of the '13s. I could be wrong but I doubt the HIDs are brighter on the '13 as compared to the '12, if they are, you don't need the extra brightness. The select shift is a nice toy, but who are we fooling, it's an auto.

In my humble opinion, with how optioned out your car is the only significant factor is the styling , which do you like better? Either one will be a sweet ride.

My net difference is 3038.00 --- at some point I'm thinking I would want to upgrade the breaks on the 12 to Brembos once making a few engine mods. Breaks alone getting them after will run between 2-4K from what I could find online. The set Ford uses I found for ~1033 which covers front only. So for 3K I'm getting complete set of Brembo breaks, upgraded sound (maybe not the best but still something more than reg. Shaker), LCD gauge with track apps, 8HP, upgraded turn signals and tail lights, painted rockers, and side scoops. I'm guessing that equals out to not a bad investment.

I've been mulling this over for 3 days talking myself into the 2013 or taking the 2K and put in my Lightning and leave 2012 Stang alone.

Sometimes it sucks having choices that are good either way

I still can't quite accept the 13 front end, so that would be one reason for me to keep the 12. If $ isn't an issue, and you'd prefer the 13 then I think you should go for it.

You may want to have a real detailer go to work with a rotary too, may see much better paint correction than the dealer.

you didn't like 2012 cobra? That is what 13 front is modeled after.

I pulled the trigger last night and ordered a 13 so will have to wait about 4 weeks to enjoy one.

I would have kept the car with the scratches and got the money. There isn't a scratch on this earth that won't come out.

If the scratches are as unnoticeable as you say, even better. Used that extra money for bills, mods, or spoiling the lady.

Btw
Sadly, 12 or 13 Mustang, no matter how far away you park your car, hide it in the garage, wax it, shoo passerbys and pray, you can guarantee that the elements, road debris, and some jack hole will cause some type of minor cosmetic damage in the future.

I like the Cobra and am used to that front being exclusive to it. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a 2013 5.0, just prefer the 11-12 front.

EDIT- sorry, meant to quote LivinEZ!
