PreOwned Mustang EcoBoost - suggestion reqd

Hi,

I have been eyeing a Mustang EcoBoost Premium 2020 with 31k miles on it. Is it OK to buy a one year old car with such high mileage? What should be a good price to buy it at? The dealer is quoting it for 28k.

thanks.

That's twice what is considered normal mileage. As for guessing a fair price, it would depend on the options/equipment packages, any mods, etc.

I personally shy away from high mileage cars unless the previous owner was constantly on the interstates for whatever travel reasons. Those highway miles are just not that hard on the car. No braking, minimal shifting (either type tranny), minimal 'stop n go' traffic on local roads with potholes that wears on every component of the car. That's how I feel anyway.
$28,000 seems insane for a price. There are new ZERO mileage 2020 Mustang Ecoboost cars all over ebay for prices in that range. Why buy one with high miles?? Even if new ones were $3,000 or more higher I would take the 'new' all day long. Good luck! Be careful.

Usually high miles like that means it was a highway commuter, which is about the best miles you can put on a car, it doesn't scare me at all . . . but yeah the maintenance history is key. I don't know what are the "going rates" for these cars, $28K seems way high to me too but I'm old ;-) . . . I'd run it through some of the on-line appraisal tools to get a clue on price.

Agreed! $28k also seems way to high for a 2020 EcoBoost Mustang with 31k miles IMHO.
