Speaking of iPod touch. We want to get an iPod touch for my daughter. I have an iPhone and want to upgrade to the 3GS. If I buy a 3GS can I give my iPhone to my daughter to use as an iPod touch? I guess what I'm asking is if I disconnect phone service from my iPhone can it still be used as a iPod touch and play games, etc. or will it be a useless brick if no service is connected. Can I hook it up too iTunes and use it as a regular iPod?

yup I poped out my sim card & not phone or data , but if you do protect the sim somewhere safe & dry & put the plug back so as not to fill with dirt ! wierd my wifi won't work with it out ?

That's odd. I've done this to 2 iPhones already and both had a working WiFi

The $150 Space Camera: MIT Students Beat NASA On Beer-Money Budget
The two students (from MIT, of course) put together a low-budget rig to fly a camera high enough to photograph the curvature of the Earth. Instead of rockets, boosters and expensive control systems, they filled a weather balloon with helium and hung a styrofoam beer cooler underneath to carry a cheap Canon A470 compact camera. Instant hand warmers kept things from freezing up and made sure the batteries stayed warm enough to work.
Of course, all this would be pointless if the guys couldn’t find the rig when it landed, so they dropped a prepaid GPS-equipped cellphone inside the box for tracking. Total cost, including duct tape? $148.

Upgrade and give her the iPhone. She'll basically have an iTouch with the camera bonus. That's what I did for the Mrs Much cheaper and she loved how it had the camera All you lose is the phone benefits i.e. text, calls, etc. Everything else will work including WiFi.

Had a little street race this afternoon against a black STI (or one of those turbo ricer cars with the huge wing).
Off a roll, 2nd, well into 3rd ,then shut it down. We were DEAD even.. those things are pretty quick.
It's the first time I got all up in the Tacomobile's boost.
Apparently I must have done good as he gave my domestic beater a thumbs up.
Street racing.. yeah, yeah..
