Is this everything you'd need for forged internals?

At quick glance, looks like most everything........ but look at Livernois, they've got great kits with proven results.

I'll ask, but will leave it up to Greg.
I'll also ask about the rev limiter as far as leaving it at 6250 or higher.

Appt is at 9am.. getting a little nervous.

Oh boy. The guys are really shooting for the stars with those numbers. I'll be happy to land on the moon with 420.

As far as parts, yeah. But don't forget all the gaskets, seals, fluids, and the sledgehammer labor bill of $2500-3000 (R&R motor and build up).

In hindsight, had I known what my total expenditures would've been, I would have went with a complete longblock from Livernois with Stage 2 heads.

Dang, I must have really missed a lot, because last time I was really on the forum, I didn't think Leo was s-charged. I heard that whine in the video and had to look at your sig.

On another note, does my sig have some letters that are dark black (after the red in exterior and interior), and then the letters are gray????

Yup.

I hate it when that happens.

You're looking to go forged already ?? I wish I could keep up. At this rate I'll be the last one forged

Yea that looks like a decent kit. I'd go Livernois. Don't go bigger than the stock bore and stroke. There seems to be problems with going much larger on the engine that causes problems. How bad that is I don't know but it would keep me at 281.

+1 on what Bill said too.

Talk to Adam about a "budget build" Forged bottom end w/o a forged crank. His wifes car is 550 rwhp+ with that build. I know a crank is great insurance but it's also another 5-600 buck PLUS a flywheel

Good Luck Bill I think you'll be A-OK in the hands of a great tuner and you'll be more than happy with the results.

Of course it could be better if you went 'cooled
(just giving ya a hard time !!)

I was just looking. Forged internals probably won't happen for a couple years unless something goes south before then.

99.999% chance all will be good, but I've got some deep mental cuts to overcome.

Bill that of what ever it shall be shall be, none to worry @ what ever way it comes out right , because your car sounds sweet the way it is you'll find that you will not use the Alpine as much now except for the camera.

Back from RET!

She held together!

The video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcdJ56kBixU

My criteria was that I want to drive it all day and drop the hammer at will with no issues, and this is what I got.

Q: Whats up with the low numbers?
A1: No intercooler (laugh away Brian & Leo). Without the IC, IAT was thru the roof, timing had to be pulled back, and more fuel had to be added to keep it safe. Greg made the decision to keep the A/F at 11.5 as well as pull timing and keep it conservative.

A2: Low compression forged pistons is hurting me right now at this given boost level (made 10 psi today) and being non-IC'd. Greg said that 0.1 in compression ratio equates to around 10hp, so that makes sense in comparing my 9.0:1 versus 9.3 or 9.4:1 factory.

Q: What happened to the Brenspeed tune?
A: We loaded it for 1 pull. It made more power/torque than RET's tune, but Greg shut it down at around 4500-5000 rpm's because timing went to ~18deg and A/F at 12.5ish. No doubt the Brenspeed tune is very aggressive and will probably produce the advertised numbers, but Greg advised against running it because he didn't want to see me pull my motor for the 3rd time.

Q: Can I run a smaller pulley and install an IC for more power?
A: Yes and yes! In fact Greg said that my motor can sustain 16-18 psi of boost and run a more aggressive timing ONLY with an IC, then will my 9.0:1 pistons will start to shine.

Q: So what's stopping me from upgrading?
A: Duh.

So in summary, all appears to be running good and the car feels hella fast to me. It's nice to finally have closure to my bad mojo.
