Pleasant gas price surprise

I normally would get name brand (Top Tier) premium for my '14 GT but my wife accumulated 30 cents off per gallon at our local grocery store (Ingles) and also saw a $3.89 price per gallon. I figured a tank of this unknown gas would not hurt, so for $3.59 a gallon for premium I filled the GT up. Not only that but I got another 5% off from my Chase card. Something positive to report in these inflationary times. I'll be back to Top Tier brand names in the future.

Like you I try to run a Top Tier gas in all my vehicles. However, at the prices these day I figure an off brand every now, and then won't hurt. The wife has some kind of thingy at Harris Teeter, and luckily the BP stations are the ones they use. The way it is around Concord, Sam's isn't any cheaper than the Shell I regularly use.

same here, and I have been paying close to $5/gallon for 93 here in Massachusetts .... I'd go for a cheap tank of off-brand gas for sure, if I could find it here!

I hate those "membership" programs where you earn points or gas discounts by allowing them to track your purchases, but I might make an exception for this, LOL

With running FI, I have no choice but to use 91+octane.. Now at just barely under $5.00 gal here in southwest PA, it's been a really bad year for taking out the Mustang

Kevin! No offense brother, but I personally wouldn't envy anybody who currently lives in California at the present time

I definitely feel for the folks in Florida, I have a half brother, first cousin and half sister who live there.. I do agree about the upsides with California, but with the downsides such as the higher cost of living, especially with fuel prices above $6-$7 per gal for premium, my wife and I would never be able to afford living there

I keep forgetting that the Sinclair name has been brought back (no stations near me at all). So many petroliana hobbyists, including myself, collect the original Sinclair items. I have numerous cans and maps and signs in my man cave that I have collected over the decades. The dino is the focal point and their marketing at the time was unreal. Just a taste of my collection below.

I was raised on the west side of the San Andreas Fault, everything east was falling into the Atlantic
My Mother and Brother are in Lehigh Acres Florida but both are OK. Brothers house is missing a shingle or 2 and a couple of panels of the screened in pool enclosure. Moms house is in the cleaning up on the outside stage.
According to a local Gas delivery truck driver the gas going to our local grocery stores was the same mixing package as Exxon and Costco.

My apologies in advance for going off topic, but just received text messages from both my half sister in Tampa and half brother in Sarasota FL. My brother has been without power for the 4th consecutive day since being lambasted by "Hurricane Ian" My sister was without power for 2 days, but said her power was finally restored last evening... Meanwhile, I'm just glad they're both doing okay, except for the power outages..

Why not use reg fuel instead of premium fuel?

While you can certainly use regular, the owner's manual states at the top of page 153, Premium fuel will provide improved performance. That's all I need to hear. I like my engines running at top level. I certainly don't drive hard but when I need to pass on a rural road or need instant speed, it's there. It is wonderful that these 420 HP engines can run on regular. Even my 372 HP Hemi needs 89 mid-grade. Ford gets top marks!!

I can't because my car is tuned for 93 ... but I'm thinking it would be a good idea to get a tune for 87, and on the street I'll never know the difference. "Maximum performance" is rarely or almost never used on the street.

2 days after a major hurricane really isn't bad, 4 days is getting up there, hope it is resolved soon. Last time we had a real hurricane up here in Mass, I think my power was out for over a week. Anyway, glad they are OK, and hope the power outage is the worst thing that they have to worry about.

It's now been 5 days since my brother has been without power, so now it's beyond the getting up there status
