Plasti-Dip

Know alot of us have used plastidip before or may be planning on using it in the future. So lets start a thread all dedicated to plasti dip. Ill start with my stuff. Ive done the grille surround, decklid, lip spoiler, and hood spears. All on a 2012 v6. Stuff has all been on for several months now and has seen just about everything except snow and has held up very well, even through many car washes.

What have you guys done?

I haven't used it yet, but want to matte clear my whole car. My buddy and I are trying to open up a shop to do dipping professionally. There are zero vendors in NorCal and apparently it's illegal to buy the dip in gallons in CA unless you have a business license...

Hmm thatd be fun, one tip i learned is to get some boiling or hot water and let the bottom 1/3rd of the can sit in there for about 10 minutes. It helps it spray on in a finer pattern

I blacked out the chrome pony on the grille of my '13 V6. Easy job which smoothed out the front end appearance, IMO.

The 13-14 v6's have a chrome ring around the grille right? Did you do that as well or just the pony?

I've done a couple things...

The trim ring around the rear GT emblem:

I just did the pony, Herbert; I kinda liked the chrome ring for some reason. I'd kinda like to acquire the upper & lower MCA grilles at some point, anyway.

Im eventually gonna do a gt front end swap and hopefully retrofit the led foglights tinted and hidden behind the saleen grille with the 13 hid's. Also the 13 gt/cs rear end conversion. I think thatd be just about the perfect blend of the two styles

I love plasti dip. It's super cheap for a quick appearance mod vs painting and being stuck with it.

I've done my hood, roof, emblems, and rear valence

Sweet stuff in here. Ive had mine on for well over a year now. My trunk blackout is holding up quite well, and even the lower part of the GT bumper is doing alright considering all the chips and scrapes it gets here in Berkeley.

I've only had one area fail on my so far, and it is due to my hood. Since a dipped over the scoop and hood together, any water that gets caught in my scoop or the gaps between it and the hood work inbetween the layer of dip on the hood and the hood itself, causing bubbles and tears. I think this is the biggest thing to look out for if you are someone who is looking to try dipping parts of yourcar: keep an eye out for water traps because they can definitely peel.

Ive always been super jealous of your wheels man, i know you get asked all the time but would you mind tellin me where you got em and for what price?

Also ive dipped my muffler and exhaust tips. Holds up super well and dried quick cuz i let the car idle for about 10 minutes revving it up every other minute or so. Ive though about using a spare grille pony as a template and dip a mustang onto my fenders. Not sure how its gonna turn out though or how durable itll be

Thanks CCTKing, those wheels r stock brembos.. a friend of mine who owns a detailing shop just painted that for me.... would cost probably $50/wheels.

Nice idea of using grille pony as template
