Opinions on buying mustang with Quarter Panel damage

Hey y’all, new guy here. I’m looking at buying a 2016 mustang gt but it has a terrible gap issue that I’m not sure about. The quarter to trunk lid is way bigger than it should be and the quarter is sticking up higher than the trunk lid.

Gap in question

From those images you posted, it does appear the driver's side quarter panel does sit a bit higher above the deck lid. Also, the gap is definitely wider compared to the passenger side. Therefore if your seriously looking into buying this car? the first question you should take into consideration before purchasing is whether or not this car had any collision repair work done after being involved in a collision? IMHO it sure looks as though the car was taken to a collision/repair shop and whoever did the repair work? obviously didn't do a very good job, at least as far as I'm concerned anyhow

It has a small crack in the rear bumper and a crack in the driver side tail light as well. The sales guy showed me the car fax and no accidents were reported. I told them as a condition of me buying it then the quarter had to be repaired. It took them a week to call me back and they informed me it was in the body shop and they are looking at how to fix it

You can also see a nice bend/dent right there in the quarter panel on the left side, just ahead of the gap on the sail panel, near the 'corner' of the glass. And it sure looks to me the lower bit of the tail lamps aren't attached correctly to the lenses, like on the right side...

Given those and the description of the rest of the damage you've seen, that thing got hit. It got hit in such a way that the previous owner didn't bother to fix it, just pop the bumper out and not worry about it. Probably backed into something, and so they'd be on the hook for the deductible to fix it.... so they didn't.

The good news is they can fix that! They just tweak things to fit better, PDR the sail panel (which will be fun because they put foam right there for NVR issues, but they can do it) and then a little paint on that bumper, and replace that tail lamp, you'll never know it.

Aka... That'll buff right out!

What? I mean... it *will*...

/Thing is... that's kinda messin' up the dealership, they'll be paying for that, and bye bye profit...
//But they didn't catch it on trade in... or someone there messed it up moving/parking it on the lot... So oh well on that previous slash, eh?

The accident obviously wasn't reported to the insurance company by the previous owner who more than likely was at fault and didn't want to end up paying the deductible. Anyhow, I just hope for your sake that you also told the dealership that you want the crack in the rear bumper fixed in addition to the quarter panel and replacement of the driver side tail light as a condition for buying the car from them

Yep. been hit in the butt. You can see black marks where the bumper cover was pushed up into the tail lights
