When it comes to posting impressive sales numbers, the new Mustang isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Sports cars have traditionally been two seaters. The Mustang does not meet that definition.

Muscle car is a better characterization.

Seriously, wikipedia! I believe they used the term "usually" in their description, at least the one I read. When I bought my Alfa Romeo GT, in Italy, in 1970, the rear seat was an option. Without it, the car was described as a Sports Car. With the rear seat, it was a Coupe. The reason, insurance. The rear seat, which I opted for, lowered the insurance costs, but did not change the car. My two little daughters fit perfectly in the back seat, but no adult could fit at all, if the passenger seat was occupied.

The term is a marketing ploy in any event, used to fire up the emotions, just as the term "Muscle Car" is used.

Mustang a muscle car? Nonsense. Of COURSE it's a sports car. Plenty of sports cars with 2+2 seating like the Mustang.
