Need some help with 65GT info

I just bought a '65 convertible for my wife. It is basically in original condition (paint etc) and all the codes match. It has GT options, but here's the question. It has the 289 2 barrel 200 hp engine, and has power drum brakes. Can this still be a GT? Or have the options been added by the dealer or someone else? I know the higher horsepower engines and the disc brakes were GT options, but could a GT car NOT have these options.

Thanks for any help out there.

mmm...I think so...I', pretty sure that GTs did not have to be K code cars....those are the disk brakes, 271 hp cars....the power brakes are what is makin me thinks you still have a legit GT.

I have no verification on if this info is true or not...but it seems to be...

Sorry, it is not a Factory GT. The GT's have disc brakes up front with an A code or K code 4 barrel V-8. The GT equipment package looks fantastic and lots of people add the GT parts when they restore their Mustangs. I had a 64.5 convertible I added the GT foglights and exhaust to. I also had a 66 coupe I added the GT foglights to and I have 65 GT fender badges waiting to be installed on my 07. It is a really sharp package IMO.
