ok ok. here is the deal. my '04 mustang V6 automatic is on the fritz. my engine shakes like crazy when i turn on my car in the morning. and it wont stay idle, instead it turns off just seconds after turning it on. what do you guys think it is? and what should i do? oh, and one more thing, my car smells too much like gas. and that scares me. but i'm kinda on a low budget here. so any suggestions for what it may be, would be very much appreciated. and any tips are welcomed......... thanx for your time.

It sounds as though the fuel isnt getting to the engine.

Have you checked to see if there is a fuel leak anywhere?

Good Luck, and welcome to the site!

Hey Mustang Jay, it looks like we have the same name and tase of cars.. Anyway, about your engine troubles, it sounds like the fuel intake is stuck and the engine is flooding. Again I am guessing..

Well what you probably need a new intake volve, see what is going on is that it is stuck open and it is over feeding the engine. When you step on the gas the fuel pump pushs the gas up and a volve opens allowing gas to enter the intake. Then another volve opens at the other end to alow the gas to enter the carbrater. What could be happening is that one of those volves is staying open and the carbrater is getting over filled. Any service station can fix it or if you are a do-it yourselfer check places like Autozone, they'll help yea.

But again I'm not sure if it is the intake so please double check with your mechinic....

did you get it fixed? Could it be bad injectors?

Could be a bad miss, caused by a faulty injector.
The miss could cause the shaking (and stalling), and the injector may have flooded the spark plug where it doesn't ignite anymore. The injector may still be pulsing fuel, but a bad plug won't fire that fuel, leaving raw fuel escape through the exhaust.

Check each plug, they are a great source to diagnose these type problems.
