mustang - things to know

so now that i'm a new owner and this is my first mustang here's what i've pieced together (plus a tidbit about ole henry)
  • 1962 ford introduced a concept car for the mustang that was awesome looking
  • the mustang was conceived and brought to life by lee iaccoa (who went on to head up chrysler)
  • the first mustang came out as a 1965 model in mid-1964
  • once the full 1965 model year came, the mustang included a gt options pack so that was the first ever gt
  • the fast back was also introduced in 1965 model year. the early release was only the non-fast back (is there a term for it, notch-back?)
  • henry ford was originally REJECTED by the USA owner's of the automobile patent, but challenged one of the board members to a race against his model-a and won! that board member had what was regarded as THE fastest horseless-carriage at the time of the race
how'd i do?

Pretty sure your right on most of those with the exception of the first mustang coming out as a 65 model. It was actually a 1964 1/2.

Joe is right, According to Ford they were 65's. Its only later that people call the early cars 64 1/2.
