We’ve seen car tug-o-wars before, but nine times out of ten, it’s a couple of trucks duking it out with one another. The combination of size and torque make trucks great competitors for a tug-of-war. What we don’t normally see are two sports cars battling it out. Yet, that’s exactly what we have in the video below.
Take a 2014 Ford Mustang, attach a ratchet strap to the back of it, and then hook the other side onto a C5 Corvette Z06, and what do you get? Tire smoke and a lot of noise. The Corvette has 385 horsepower, and weighs just 3,100lbs. While the Mustang is a much bigger bruiser with 420 horsepower and 3,700lbs.
It’s really no surprise that the Mustang takes the Corvette, not just because of the power advantage, but because of the weight of the car. There’s no way a lighter Corvette with less power is going to have the capability of moving the heavier Mustang. It’s just basic physics.
However, knowing the outcome doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy this ridiculous video. Tire destruction and two V8 soundtracks are the Car Gods’ gifts to humanity.
