Mileage per tank
I have a 2004 gt 5spd. I am going to go to NC from NJ on June 4th, i hope. I am wondering what is the total mileage that u can get out of a full tank? (Not per gallon). i've never done a long trip like this b4 in it.

I did take one long trip last summer... Warm day, had the windows open. About 100 miles / 160 kilometers. Didn't empty the tank, but as I started out I filled her up completely, then drove off.
Highway driving, cruisecontrol set to 75 MPH / 120 KPH and just let it roll...
As I got to my destination I stopped, refilled the tank, and calculated the mileage. Ford states the maximum mileage you can take with a V8 engine should be somewhere around 26 MPG / 11.1 KM per liter. That trip however I managed to get her up to 30.3 MPG / 12.9 KM per liter.
So Ford states you can drive around 657 KM or 410 miles per tank. I managed 765 KM or 657 miles on a tank appearantly. Still not sure how I managed that feat tho :P
It depends greatly on how you drive. If you drive relaxed, you'll see gasmileage increase. If you weave all over the road, don't expect too much improvement.

The driving was done on a stock config. I managed an average of around 8.3 KM per liter which is about 19.6 MPG. That's mostly city driving tho.
Recently added a K&N filter to her, so I'm curious what is gonna happen with fuel usage

A lot of mileage numbers also depends on the weather, if its hot or cold, winds affect it big time, and also how you drive. Use the cruise control if you can.

oki. Thanks for the tips. I am back from my trip. I actually suprised myself and made 235 or so to about a 1/2 tank of gas. Stopped in VA on 95. Stopped in NC on 85. Still only got less than 13 to the gal tho and that was with cruise most of the time. 85 in VA is so boring i was sleepy so i stopped a few times. Weather was perfect all week, except one night.
Let us know about the K&N.

Used to average to 1 liter of fuel for every 8 kilometers which converst to around 19.12 MPG... Got upped to 8.5 now, which puts it at 20.3 MPG. All in all... Not too bad

Well... with gasprices as they are, every little bit of mileage helps
I know Stangs aren't sold for their mileage (which is something I did weigh into the equation when buying it) but more for fun, but if it can do both, you won't hear me complaining
