I own a 98' mustang gt, 4.6 and I'm sick of the low amount of horsepower, The car is basically stock except for a full magnaflow exhaust kit and k&n filter. I want more horsepower, what can I do that is on the cheaper side?

 

Power don't come cheap bud. Even the slight HP mods can cost 300 to 800 bucks. Unless that's cheap to you. Id be looking at doing a pi swap.

Like texastboneking said, look into a PI head/intake swap, it's worth about 40 HP. Don't know the price of heads(maybe look into a wrecked 99-04) but the intake is $170 at AM. A tuner will also help out alot, 20hp/30tq at wheels for $380 and free tunes for life at AM. Underdrive pullies usually free up an easy 10HP, and are cheap.
