Insurance is intended for major events. The extra 500-750 you may get will be eaten up in a years time in premiums.

I would spend the additional premium dollars on getting a personal liability policy or even stated value policy for modded cars.
You may want to look into that. I checked for myself going from $500 deductible to $1000 and it was only going to save me between $40 and $60 a year.

I did and mine was dramatically different. State Farm. I guess all the potential variables taken into account between the two of us could create a difference.

I did switch from another company and combined my auto with my already existing home, personal liability policies so you are probably correct that a portion of that savings was due more to multi-line discount than just increasing the deductible.

Either way, my wife and I have never had an accident in 20 yrs and if the difference is even 50-100 a year, it adds up on 5 vehicles.

Just depends on your personal situation.

In Texas.

At 43, married, carrying full coverage with a $500 deductible on both my '12 Mustang and my wife's '05 Camry, both of us insured on both cars costs about $140 per month.

It would be cheaper but I have less than a perfect driving record. Part my fault, and 2 wrecks that were the other drivers fault.

I think that is the key right there. There are so many variables at work beyond the deductible that who knows. I'm also State Farm, 4 cars, a motorcycle, house, rental house, and an umbrella policy and when they ran the #s, it ended up not being worth the risk. A single incident was going to cost more than what the lower premiums was going to save me many times over.

Sounds like we have a lot more similarities than differences. I have the similar number of vehicles, age similar, umbrella, home, other coverages, outstanding CS. My 2011 Shelby convertible is approx 35 a month.

Insurance companies tend to screw us over here in the Detroit area so that may be the main variable. If I didn't live in one of the better parts of the area, it'd be even worse.

42 years old, married, clean driving record, central Ohio (live out in the country) - State Farm, multi-car and multi-line discounts

$500 Comp/$1000 Collision deductibles on my '08 Mustang GT, $37/month

For all six of our cars (all but the Miata have full coverage) we pay just under $200/mo
