Chances are, if you own a Mustang, you probably never, ever thought about towing anything with it. But for those who have, consider this a warning.

Misleading - it's really about proper weight distribution.

and old news to boot

Chances are, if you own a Mustang, you probably never, ever thought about towing anything with it.

Then again, I think I recall seeing a few Mustangs on the road with something hitched on the back.

Either way, let this video serve as food for thought on some of the dangers when towing with a Mustang.

The 26-second U-Haul safety video uses a toy Mustang on a conveyor belt to show what happens when a lot of weight is distributed at the rear of a trailer. And while some might be quick to write the demonstration off because it uses a toy, know that it could prove to be far-more disastrous in a real Mustang.

As Jalopnik points out, just imagine what would happen if an actual Mustang driver found himself in this kind of situation on the road, and he started to panic and crank the wheel back and forth. Not too much of a stretch, right?

Ok, that Beetle and Camper is really cool. I'm sure there's a good reason it's not around much, but dude. Just way cool.

Oh, and misleading title is misleading.

The wheels on the model trailer are not set far back enough. There is a formula for building trailers. I'm not a builder but I believe I was told once that it's at the halfway point plus 10% of the total length towards the back.

OK, we all know these threads are started by bots, but can whoever programs that bot maybe at least make sure they're reporting truthfully?

The article is about freakin' weight distribution, not Mustang's towing capabilities ... WTF ???

I agree this is all bogus, if a V6 mustang can tow ( I have saw few... maybe a couple V6 mustangs with in my 42 years of being on this planet with towing *****) a V8 mustang can tow as well. I mean your not going to get the best gas mileage and your performance will greatly diminish, however you might be the talk of the town or joke but they will be talking about you. Lets face it, I don't think anyone buys a V8 mustang 5.0 or 4.6 and say cool now I can hook up my boat or trailer and tow my junk around. If you buy a high performance vehicle more than likely you have something already lined up to tow your stuff around and not your modded out Stang you show off at the car meet. Remember Stangs are known for mowing over crowds of people (joke.....what to soon) not towing trailers or boats at high speeds or at the strip.

A MUSTANG THAT TOES AND NOT EVEN A V8, PLAIN OLD V6 LOL

It was kind of funny that I came across this thread and with in the same day, I came across a Mustang SN95 V6 with a tow hitch right after work on my way to get a beer. As soon as I saw the tow hitch I started laughing and had to take a pic of it just to prove the demonstration that was posted is wrong and was made to fail. Clearly you can see the hitch has been used from the ware marks on the ball and once again clearly there is no damage to the vehicle from towing too. So what do all you NAY SAYERS have to say now !!!
