GT Impulse
Yo to you all,
I'm new to the forum and still learning my way around. I came here because I've been getting real itchy to buy a GT -I currently own a 4.0- and if that impulse gets the better of me I want to make an informed buy.
So it's buying a new GT vs installing mods. One GT I'm looking at is a 4.6, another a 4.8. So my question to you more experienced owners is:
"Is that .6 extra liters of air intake really worth it?"
If it's a matter of horsepower (300 vs. 400) can't I get 50 hp out of adding about 3,000$ worth of mods. I hope I'm not asking dumb questions because I know nothing about this.
When it comes to cosmetics, there are not many Mustangs out there I like more than mine. So parting with it on a trade in is another issue.

My v6 is a 4.0. So I was comparing it to a 4.6.

Me, and the wife have always owned a GT. She's owned a '10 4.6L, and now a '13 5.0L. I just bought an '06 with the 4.6L. Even with mods to the 4.0 you have to ask yourself will I enjoy it, or will I wish I had just bought a GT. I will say the sound from the GT is worth owning one in my book. The V8 gives the car a completely different feel also. I said all that to say this, get the GT if at all possible. The 4.6L has a proven reliability record if it's been well maintained. My '06 has 92K miles, and it still has the power and turns in a respectable 27 mpg's on the highway.
