gas gauge

Just got my 1990 mustang 5.0. Everything except the gas gauge works. Does that mean a totally new fuel pump?

Might just be the sending unit in the gas tank. There is a float that can become stuck. Not sure what the set up is in your 1990 but it could be that, not the pump.
