Ford Motor Co. announced today that two senior executives for Ford North America are leaving the company. Phil Martens is Ford’s group vice president of production creation for North America, and Matt DeMars is vice president of vehicle operations.
Many times a defection that high-up can be by gentle "persuasion", or forced out. neither case is good, because two at once could be indiciative of a major screw-up somewhere.
Uh oh, not a good time to be in auto biz. With Delphi's bankruptcy announcement, I think you're going to see a lot of execs move on to other industries or more profitable ones within the auto sector.
Not sure just what it means, but I know Ford had high hopes for
the Taurus-replacing 500 and I have YET to see one on the street
here in CA. I've only seen them on dealer lots.
I understand F-150 sales are down, too, with the price of gas. The Mustang sales aren't enough to carry Ford alone, so I'm guessing I'm guessing they are "restructuring" at the top.
My biggest fear is that they will "de-content" the 'Stang to boost
profits...

What do you expect with that nonexistent sales campaign? The entire line-up of cars is changing for the better and it’s a freaking secret. This is what happens when the company is run by bean-counters and lawyers. Probably got some survey results that say people watch more TV in the middle of winter so to maximize their bang for the buck they're waiting for January when half the model year is over....

In September, car sales were up 3 percent as strong sales of the new Ford Mustang, Ford Five Hundred, and Mercury Montego offset declines in other car models.

It sounds to me like the 500/Montego sales are doing just fine.
