Raymond, next time go into the dealership. You're buying a car, not ordering a pizza. Sorry, I have to :fail: you.

why drive out to a dealer unless they have what you are looking for and remember I worked at a Ford dealer for 10yrs and we would have checked our inventory to make the sale and just for the customer service sake
also why have an internet dept.

So they weren't closing for an hour and a half, but couldn't check to see if they had the car?

Just curious, why didn't you just call and talk to someone?

Exactly, I was about to call but then I thought of my retail days and a phone call means nothing it's taken more seriously if it's writen, so I found the G.M.s email address and sent him the transcript he contacted me back (about 9:45) and said he's sorry, that the way they handled this was all wrong and "the car is right here in the show room". So I thanked the G.M. for his quick responce. So now I'll be checking the car out later this morning

Or at least call. The poor woman probably thought she was being pranked.

I shopped via Internet - then I just walked into the dealership and purchased (got it for invoice!!! yes!!!)- much much less bull. If they really want to make a sale, they will get back to you quickly.

They want you to come in the door no matter if they have the car or not.

I protest the title of this thread. This wasn't an F. It was a C, maybe a D. I see nothing wrong with the overall situation, and considering OP is going in and seems happy about the car being tehre, overall, this thread title needs changing. Badly.

The best way to check a dealer's inventory on line without calling or e-mailing is:

edmonds.com
cars.com
kbb.com

They all have a way for you is get to the dealer's web page to check inventory. That's how I bought my 2012 Boss 302.

Yes they do. When they called, I stated I was interested in price first and to send a quote via email or don't waste my time.

I agree I've Internet shopped for cars many times before and some dealers are great. when I got my wifes car they gave us a price quote (that we liked) and had us in and out of the dealership in less then a half hour . Most dealers want your info so they can start a telemarketing campaign to get you in the store to pressure you (even a little) into a sale
as for this dealer
I'm raising there grade to a firm "B-" since they seem to be doing all they can for me now . So let's see what we can do. they have already given me a pretty good price but I'm going to see about trading in the Pantera (thats a tough one)

Hi Ray,

Are you still running 15" wheels? I have a brand new, never mounted, set of Toyo Proxes ST's 295/50-15" tires manufactured in 2007.

I am in them $400 including shipping. I know these tires for 15" wheels are made out of "unobtanium".

Let me know if you need a set before I put them on the www.

They sound cool I love "unobtanium" but I never seem to be able to get my hands on some
My tires are in good shape only about 2years old so I don't think so but thanks for the offer

well I think the grade may drop again since I haven't heard (email, phone or carrier pigeon) from the dealer for the second day .
I really don't care if they say we "can't do it" I just think it's rude not to respond to a customer when they told you they would

You know, from the tone and words the rep who was chatting with you used, it wouldn't surprise me to find that she was located in another country- like India. A lot of places go the cheap route, and get offshore chat help. These people use scripts, and are not native English speakers, so you'll get those canned responses like you were getting.

Also, I've been at a couple Ford dealerships, standing around with a huge wad of cash in my hand trying to get someone to wait on me. That, and the problems I've had with service is why I will no longer deal with Ford dealers. I bought my Mustang from a Toyota dealership, got a non Ford extended warranty, and have been much happier and better treated this time around. Before I set foot in any dealership I do extensive research on consumer opinion.

All that said, good luck getting the car you want
