Edmund's Cons on 2012 Mustang

I always read Edmund's reviews when I'm considering a new car. I'm a bit curious regarding their review on the 2012 Mustang. In the "Cons" section, they say,

"Lots of Mustangs on the street."

Maybe it's the area I'm in. (Kansas City). But for the past month or so, while I've been contemplating my decision, I've been checking. Every time my wife and I go out for a drive (grocery store, dinner, Hobby Lobby, whatever) I keep a tally of the Mustangs and the BMW we see. Without fail, the BMW units always exceed the Mustangs.

I chose BMW because that's what I'm driving now, and what I'm trading in on the new GT next week when it arrives at the dealer.

In closing this post, I have to ask the question: Do you see a LOT OF MUSTANGS ON THE STREET in your area?

There really are too many mustangs. No matter where I am, I see them everywhere.

When I had my RX8, I could go a week without seeing one, anywhere. I see mustangs everywhere, maybe not a 2012, but a mustang of some year. Heck, there are at least 5 of them on my street.

They built the 300 millionth mustang in '04, and that was eight years ago!

I want a car that's a little more unique. The reason I love my mustang is because its competition orange. I've only seen around 3 or 4 other comp. orange mustangs in person my whole life.

Skylar - I realize a lot of Mustangs have been produced (since they're so popular, which is a good thing) but I don't know where you came up with the fact that Ford produced their 300 miliionth Mustang in 2004. From the sources I've found, the total production from 1964 to present is still under 10 million. Maybe you meant they produced their 3 millionth unit in 2004?

I'm not wanting to argue, just trying to make sure we don't distribute erroneous info.

Also, since the Camaro production numbers exceed those of the Mustang, I'm surprise Edmunds doesn't list that same "con" on their 2012 Camaro review. I actually see a lot more new Camaros on the road than Mustangs. At least in this area.

Additional clarification (from Wikipedia)

According to the US Bureau of Transit Statistics for 2008 there are 255,917,664 registered passenger vehicles.

IL - Chicagoland area and I don't see many 5.0's at all. A couple v6's here and there. I'm sure I'll see a lot more come spring time.

I was just going off the picture. I'm on my phone, so it's hard to research but I think the mustang in the picture was Ford's 300 millionth vehicle in general.

I see. That looks like their 300 millionth Ford build since 1903. That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying it. I think there have been about 8 million Mustangs built since the 1964 1/2 model was released.

Thats actually great, I'd rather see a bunch of Mustangs roaming the street rather than almost none at all. GM ran into that problem with the F cars and eventually decided to shut them down from 2002 to 2010.
