Did you drive a Mustang to get your license??
Perhaps not many have driven a Mustang during their driving test to get a 'learner's permit' or license but have any of you actually done that?
I remember my examiner asking me if the 1968 Plymouth Barracuda convertible was mine when I showed up with it at 16 years of age in 1970. I said I wished it was mine but it was my parent's car. Only a 318 in it but still impressive. I got my license, that 's all that mattered.
My first Mustang didn't come about until 1982.

I actually did use a Mustang to take my road test. Everything my family owned was a manual and I figured it would be easier to pass the test in an auto. So I borrowed a friends 1982 4cyl auto hatchback to take the test in.
Worked out great for the road test and the car was only about 6-7yrs old at that time but it was already a pos...early fox bodies were not great.

I did not. '78 Thunderbird. Big dang tank, that parallel parking was NOT happening. Still passed.
But my first car was a '78 II, so I got into a Mustang fast as I could.
/yeah yeah, IIs don't count, whatever.
//Without that II we wouldn't have what we got today, partners, so there.
///reminds self of the Electric CUV thing and is a little sad.

No Mustang here but a land barge. A '73 4 door Impala and I could park that on a dime!
My wife learned stick in a hemi superbird!!! Even though it wasn't a Mustang that is a rocking awesome car.

Took my test in my half-brother's car, a '69 Dodge Charger, blue, with a 318 and automatic.
Got my first Mustang about a year or so later after my '68 Falcon Futura was rear-ended by - a '73 Mustang Mach 1!
The rest (as you can tell by my signature) is history.

I was fortunate enough to have drivers ed offered though the Junior High I attended. Was able to get my license (daylight only) at 14. So I was assigned to a certain teacher and he was connected to a local dealer's Drivers Education Olds loaner car. That is what I used for the driving test. So no Mustang here. It was an ugly 1973 Wedgwood Blue Olds Cutlass 4 door sedan. More of a grandma car to me at the time. I hated it, but it got me through and I got my license.
I was much more interested in the car I was getting to drive once I got my license. It was my Dad's 1966 Chevy Impala SS (396ci Auto). It was fast and very cool back then, especially for a 14 year old kid. My first Mustang came about 3 years later when I got my hands on a 1967 Mustang fastback S code car. That thing was loaded, brushed aluminum dash, floor and ceiling consoles, automatic, vented blinker hood, ribbed taillights, and even AC.
Drivers Ed car was a lot like this one, but a 4 door sedan. Just flat ugly.
My first car was a lot like this 66 Chevy Impala SS, except it was a 396ci coupe (Not a Vert) with red interior. Very nice and fast, just big.
This photo is of a car that was the closest I have ever found to my '67. Mine was less the fog-lights and grill emblems, had different wheels and no side stripes.
Taillight ribs, both sets of side vents, and the hood vents were all painted gloss black when I got it. Not sure if that was factory or not. Mine had the same flip style gas cap, but mine had the tri-bar emblem instead of this ones GT.

Probably would have been better if it was not a Sedan...
I remember the car was painted in Wedgewood Blue (like the pic above. Had to look up the color to get that.) with a white vinyl top and body color painted hub caps like these. I guess it could have been worse, it could have been this color.

When I took my drivers test I took my mom's Bronco 2. It was a manual to which made even better. I remember the instructor just stopped and looked and said ok well I guess this is how the day is going to start lol.

I did mine in a pale yellow 1973 Plymouth Valiant . . . I think I got y'all beat on "fugly"
EDIT/PS: on second thought, the Valiant had fairly clean, though very boxy, lines . . . I think that Olds is actually worse, LOL

I took my Driving test in a 1976 Honda Civic with the 2 speed Automatic that looked something like this below. I took the test in Woburn Mass and a firetruck came from the other way with lights and siren on so I pulled completely off the road and stopped and he said turn around and go back, you passed
