I obtained a 1998 Mustang Coupe as the result of an accident which destroyed my other vehicle ( rear ended by an @#$%^ on a cell phone).
The 98 Stang did not come with a warranty but the dealer did certify that they had tuned the vehicle, checked the brakes and change all fluids levels. So far I am happy with it and it will do until my new ride arrives at the end of May 2005. 05 Windveil Blue V6 Stang.

The certified pre-owned program is good. That is assuming your dealer does it properly. The vehicle should get fresh air, oil and fuel filters, new wiper blades and if brakes or tires are worn to 50% or more they get replaced. It gives you an additional 36 mos/39000 miles of powertrain warranty (6/75 total) right through Ford and also gets you a 3.9% rate for up to 60 months. The cost is only $495 per car, so I think it's worth it. Just make sure the vehicle was serviced as it should be, there are some dealers that take a few "shortcuts" on the reconditioning.

Thumbs up

ok thanks guys, so far this gives me some hope on it....i do think its a good idea especially on a used car and especially if the car is still under the standard warranty, i like it because the car is a little broken in and i dont have to exactly baby it...it does take the fun out of owning a brand new car...but i cant do that right now :\
ps - i went to http://www.fordcpo.com/ford/ and read all the stuff there about the CPO's...sounds like a pretty good plan only pay a 100$ deductible to get stuff fixed if i have to...and the warranty is alot better...6yrs/75k miles...pretty nice...now i just need to hear ACTUAL testimonials...not stuff on ford's website lol
