A car that looks alot like a S197 mustang

What do you guys think? I noticed this when the new mustang first came out. The nose/cowl is very similar

The Volante is the convertible.
Its a pretty good looking car for the 70s. Might even have borrowed something from the 69/70 mustang models
Or is the G35 closer?

Looks more like an '80's mustang with the boxy body.
I prefer this one http://www.kallinibrothers.com//images/auc...s%20Mustang.htm

Which looks to me like a Pinto. Let's not revisit and give Ford any ideas with gas prices rising!

They were inexpensive transportation that outlasted many other cars on the road, so they did what they were designed to do. I just hope the auto industry takes a different approach to coping with high fuel costs this time around.

I think the Aston Martin that was in The Living Daylights looks more like a Mustang than that one.

Aston Martin have always built special cars, long before they were the car of choice for James Bond. . They didn't borrow the front end from Mustang. Look at the car in profile and you'll see there is no resemblance. But good eyes in spotting the similarity in front.

sorry scott, i have to disagree wiht you there. maybe i just have a thing for being the underdog, but i love IIs. the body lines and just the overall feel of them. to put it bluntly, i like em more than any other stangs out there. all my life i've been kinda looked down upon. i was never a great athlete OR a good student for that matter. so i guess i can relate to my II in that matter. me and my II have something to prove. we're not just a couple of freaks, we mean business
i appreciate your opinion, and im glad you chose to give it voice in a calm and respectful manner (me and my II dont get that much lol) but i really think the II is a "little Jewel". and even if it aint that much of a car, i'm going to MAKE mine into something i love. with some ahrd work and some time this will be the car i've dreamed of. its not going to be easy, i know, as parts for IIs are not hard to come by and im sure alot of the things i want will require alot of custom work, but i really do think it is going to be worth it when im done.
gimme (and her) a few years, you'll see
edit: plus, i dont really guve much thought to what people say about me or my car anymore. hence the 'fro :P if i were basing my car purchases and my style on how other people saw me and what they thought, i'd be a clean cut dooshbag who wears nothing but baercrombie and fitch and drives a late model honda or something. total blando. i prolly never woulda gotten into old cars, or even my art. i'd be as creative as a rock and about as smart as one too. hope it doesnt sound like im barking at you, cuz im not. just voicing my nutty opinion. besides, if it werent for nutters like we, life'd be boring!

Go for it, Arin. Whatever makes you happy is OK in my book and I know you love your car. My only point was that there's not a huge market for II's and if you sink a lot of money into your ride you'll have a hard time recovering much of it when you want to sell it. You already know that. But it beats throwing away your dough on drugs and gambling. Life is full of choices and we all make bad decisions from time to time. Regardless of what you do, you'll always have the memories. Best of luck.

Sadly, you are right. I know you have one and it's going to be great for you, but the wasn't much of a car then and it's not going to get any better. Arin, don't throw your money away modding this thing. You'll never get it back. Save it for another Mustang.

future I hear ya. I have a exp turbo coupe. I like the II's but my favorite mustangs are the late 60's. I have an 84 gt. as far as the pinto goes....i use to work at a pizza place that used pintos for delivery cars. they were nice cars and they were pissed when ford quit making them. my best friend owned 2 of them and he liked them a lot. and he was a chevy guy.

I don't think you ever get any money back modding any car... It's a hobby, something that you do because you love it, not because you're speculating! Do what you want with your car and don't worry about what other people say...

Just go into this modding mode with your eyes wide open and the realization that it's money you'll never see again.
If you look at my avatar you'll figure out that I've spent a whole lot of money on slip fees for boats I used to own. The money is gone but the memories are priceless. I understand your addiction.
