I bought an 05 mustang v6 less than a week ago the day I brought it home belt started squeaking took it to the dealership and the said oh its a new belt it just needs belt dressing I called bs but smiled and went on my way got the belt dressing to humor them made it 10x worse I went bought a new belt put it on instant fix took my car by a tire shop to have the tires looked at and was told that the tires would be unsafe going over 60 for all the numerous cracks in the sidewall told dealership they said oh they're fine. Then when driving down the road the stick on hood scoop flew off and hit the windshield then flew off somewhere.. I am going to talk to owner of the dealership today am I in the wrong for wanting them to do something about this. Thank you sorry for long post.

 

i dont think the dealership is gonna help you.. usually used cars are sold as is condition... but definitely not wrong asking them.

 

Unfortunately I believe you bought a car and didn't check it out very well before. You bought an older car with older parts and a stick on hood scoop. You can ask the dealer for some help resolving your issues but no point in being pissed.

 

I brought the tires up to them when we bought the car they said they were good the cosmetic things dont concern me the tires are my main concern as my wife drives the car too, I'm not pissed just concerned.

 

a 2005 car is no longer under any kind of a warranty there for you have no leg to stand on. it is something that should have been addressed before the sale was finalized.
Move on and buy the parts needed to make the car safe enough for your wife to drive. Also pics of your wife would help all of us be able to help you to the fullest extent.

Check the DOT numbers molded into the tires. The last 3 digits on the DOT number is the date code. If the tires are more than 4 or 5 years old, replace them. The cracking is usually a good sign that they are beyond their lifespan.

Also. Check both sides of the tire. One side will have a longer dot code. Thats the one to look at the last 4 digits. The otherside wont have a date code

 

They should have done the belt for you just as a measure of 'goodwill' or customer relations. The tires are your fault unfortunately. I always check date codes, etc... and too be honest I generally like starting off a used car with new tires of my choice anyway. The dealer would have just slapped on a set of 'el cheapo' brand tires made in China. You don't need those.
Certainly no harm in talking to the upper management at the dealership. I also would never frequent them again. Tell all your friends about your experience.

thank you this is my thoughts exactly I'm glad someone validated them for me, and now that i think about i don't want cheapo tires which is what they would have been, they did get brought up during negotiation but was told they were fine. But no point in beating a dead horse lol.. thank you guys y'all have been alot of help. New tires are top priority

 

Did you buy the car with a warranty or as is? If you bought it without a warranty you might as well delete this thread because the answer is pretty clear at that point.
